Ford Motor Company has issued a recall affecting approximately 185,000 F-150 Lightning pickup trucks from the 2023 through 2025 model years. The recall addresses a potential defect in the battery thermal management system that could lead to reduced performance in extreme heat.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed that no injuries or fires have been reported in connection with the issue. However, Ford is urging owners to schedule dealer appointments promptly to receive the software update and hardware inspection.
Affected owners will receive notification letters beginning next week. The repair, which involves both a coolant line replacement and software recalibration, is expected to take approximately three hours at authorized dealers.
