Toyota has reaffirmed its commitment to solid-state battery technology, announcing that pilot production will commence in early 2028 at its Higashifuji facility in Japan. The company claims the batteries will offer double the energy density and a full charge in under 10 minutes.
The breakthrough addresses one of the longest-standing challenges in battery technology: maintaining stable performance through thousands of charge cycles. Toyota's engineers have reportedly achieved over 2,000 cycles with less than 10% capacity degradation.
