Volkswagen has officially confirmed that the ID.2 compact electric hatchback will come to the United States with a starting price below $25,000 after federal tax credits. The announcement marks VW's most aggressive push into the affordable EV segment.
The ID.2 will offer approximately 280 miles of range from a 56 kWh battery pack and support DC fast charging at up to 175 kW. Interior space is said to rival the current Golf despite its smaller exterior footprint.
US sales are scheduled to begin in early 2027, with the car initially built in Spain before potential production shifts to VW's Chattanooga plant depending on demand.
