General Motors and Hyundai Motor Group revealed a landmark partnership today to co-develop a shared electric vehicle platform targeting the affordable EV segment priced under $30,000.

The collaboration will combine GM's Ultium battery technology with Hyundai's E-GMP architecture expertise to create a modular platform capable of underpinning sedans, crossovers, and small SUVs beginning in 2028.

Industry analysts estimate the partnership could reduce per-vehicle development costs by up to 35 percent, potentially making sub-$25,000 EVs viable for both automakers within three years.
